Imaginary panic...

Some storm last night, huh. Actually, it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it was. Let me tell you my little story.

I had to take the darling angel to cheer last night at 6:30. Anne ordered pizza, so I just stayed there to watch American Idol and eat pizza. After Idol, I drove around the corner to my house and got there a couple minutes after nine. As SOON as i stepped out of my car, the wind started howling and the rain started. As if that weren't eerie enough, I could hear something that sounded like a police radio or something down the road. I didn't really think anything about it, so I went on inside and turned on the TV for the weather. The first thing I hear is for people in Camp, Titus and Morris counties to take cover and you don't want to be in a trailer house right now. (Uh, Ok, I'm screwed). I'm really starting to kind of freak out at this point. So I run to the back door and let the dogs in real quick. While the door is open, I hear that radio again, real loud like they're right in front of my house. I still couldn't understand what they were saying. Captain is taking his sweet time loping up the steps, with me yelling at him, "Come on, Captain!" like fifty times and me freaking out thinking they're driving through the neighborhood with a loud speaker telling us to take cover. It was crazy. Tina called as I had just gotten everybody inside. I was in the middle of a frenetic conversation with her when the power blew. Luckily, I have a regular phone and was able to call her back. She talked me down and I was able to breath for a second and realized it was just another storm. There was lightning and thunder and it sounded like it was a bad ass storm, but the wind blew pretty hard for about 10 minutes and then it rained. That was it. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that it was not as bad as I blew it up to be in my mind. But all that panic and hoopla for nothing.

I was able to get a couple of shots of the lightning the storm created. Pretty funny for me to be taking pictures of lightning after being freaked out 20 minutes before, you're thinking. But that's me. I'm not right.

"Overheard in New York" Quote of the Day
Dude: I don't think I'll do too well on The Price Is Right. I'm too used to Manhattan. I'd say 35 dollars for a box of Bounce. Then I'd be like, 'Holy shit, five bucks? Goddamn, Bob, where the fuck do you shop?!'
--Times Square
(So glad I don't live in Manhatten if they think $5 for a box of Bounce is cheap!!!)
